Hive Engine Connector ("the Connector") is an OAuth relay operated by Gipfelhirsch GmbH. It connects a merchant's Shopify store to that merchant's own Hive Engine instance, a separately operated order management and invoicing system. This policy covers only the Connector itself, not the Hive Engine instance a merchant connects to, which is operated independently per merchant and has its own data handling.

What the Connector does

When a merchant clicks "Connect to Shopify" in their Hive Engine Settings, the Connector receives Shopify's OAuth callback, exchanges the authorization code for an access token, and forwards that token directly to the merchant's own Hive Engine backend over an authenticated server-to-server connection. The Connector does not store the token after delivery, and does not itself make any subsequent calls to the Shopify Admin API — all day-to-day store/order/customer data access after installation happens directly between the merchant's Hive Engine backend and Shopify, outside the Connector.

Data the Connector temporarily handles

The Shopify access token issued during authorization, held only long enough to deliver it to the merchant's backend.
The shop domain and granted OAuth scope, for the same purpose.
If delivery to the merchant's backend fails, the token is held in a short-lived pending-delivery record for manual retry, and is not otherwise used or shared.

The Connector does not receive, process, or store customer PII, order contents, product data, or payment data — those flows happen directly between each merchant's own Hive Engine backend and Shopify.

Mandatory compliance webhooks

The Connector implements Shopify's required customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact webhooks. Requests received through these webhooks are forwarded to the relevant merchant's Hive Engine backend for fulfillment, since that backend — not the Connector — holds the synced data in question.
